Risk factors of gum disease
According to the American Academy of Periodontology, if you have periodontitis you have an increased risk of coronary artery disease. Additionally, people with diabetes, especially uncontrolled diabetes are more likely to develop gum disease. People with diabetes may also find it hard to control their blood sugar levels.
Signs you may have gum disease:

- Constant bad breath

- Loose or separating teeth
